Style on Film

More style on film spotted in the based on a true story civil-rights flick Blood Done Signed My Name.  The subject is actor Nate Parker (as Ben Chavis). The movie is set in 1969 and it looks like it was a good year, Aviators, Slim Ties, Tie Bars, Fitted Polos, Flat-Front Chinos and Coke Bottles.

Takers Style

A couple of stills of the well-dressed crooks from the Movie Takers do out next month. Dressed by costume designer Maya Lieberman, who was also the stylist for Death at a Funeral (Esquires Guide to Funeral Dressing here).
T.I. giving those with 32 or less inseams hope.
Paul Walker, slim tie, classic car.
Idris Elba, similar look as T.I. sans pocket-square and a little less sheen.

Style on Film: Boomerang

I was checking out the urban classic Boomerang the what goes around comes around romcom with a happy ending.  The movie is loaded with funny people Eddie, Martin, David Alien Grier, John Witherspoon, and Chris Rock (not to mention the beautiful duo of Robin Givens and Halle Berry)...

One would think that Eddie's character the super confident lady-killer would be the best dressed of the trio (Martin, Eddie and D.A.G.).  Admittedly Eddie was more daring and futuristic (he had a plasma TV mounted in 1992) and a couple of times it worked...but look at how D.A.G. stuck with the classics (unlike Martin) and although it was 18 years ago it looks like he stepped out of the 2011 J.Crew fall/winter catalog.
Who do you think was the most stylish?

Style on Film: Michael Cera

In the movie Youth in Revolt (2010) the nerdy virgin Michael Cera (Nick Twisp) from Superbad fame creates an edgy alter-ego (François Dillinger) a la T.I. vs T.I.P. in reverse to help him land his dream girl.  François is flashly, Nick is preppy but they are both stylish.
